Position: Technology Assistant – Internship

       

Reports to: Technology Administrator or designee

 

Employment Status: Part-time (up to 24 hours per week/50 weeks per year)

        

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

Description: The Technology Assistant provides assistance to the technology administrator for all administrative tasks,

                     including servers, computers, printers and various peripherals.

 

NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
  • Has a legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
  • Shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District
  • Ensure safety of students
  • Make contact with public with tact and diplomacy
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
  • Provide technical support to the school-based computers, peripherals, and network equipment
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • Assist with upgrades and needed changes
  • Assist teachers and staff with use of software and hardware
  • Ensure equipment is working properly
  • Provide timely resolution of computer problems by providing answers or referral
  • Install new software and hardware
  • Requires good organization skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Works independently with limited supervision

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school and three years of experience in the use of computing and information technology resources
  • Specific knowledge of the particular software or systems supported may be required
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of computers
  • General knowledge of related information technology devices
  • General knowledge of software packages utilized
  • Ability to communicate with users to determine the nature of problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with users who may not be adept in clarifying problem situations
  • Ability to assist users with applications
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and team environment
  • Ability to solve independently most minor problems
